SIBANC Project
Information System for Artistic, Natural and Cultural Heritage — co-financed by the Lazio Region ERDF ROP 2014-2020.
Project description
SIBANC is an information system involving the creation and application of an innovative digital code (SIBANC), generated through a sophisticated data encryption and compression system, able to "embed data and images" within it.
Wherever there is a need to provide detailed information — text, images, maps, augmented reality — even to users such as foreign visitors who have no internet access on their smartphones or are not covered by public wifi, or in places such as nature parks, mountain trails or pilgrimage routes where there may be no internet connection, SIBANC ensures full functionality by providing information about the location. If enabled, it can also be used in blockchain mode.
SIBANC also allows visually impaired users to access textual information, thanks to text-to-speech playback of the content embedded in the code.
Through a dedicated app, the SIBANC code performs the same functions a QR Code could, but with the added benefit of working even without an internet connection. It can be printed on any surface and, being non-invasive, can be placed in any environment — natural or within artistic and cultural heritage sites — without disfiguring the landscape.
